Cristian Vega-Rojo
Birthplace: Vallenar, Chile
Cristian Vega-Rojo was born and raised in Vallenar,
Chile, a little city in the middle of the Atacama
desert. This fascinating place, is one of the
driest deserts in the world, yet it explodes with
color every August, and is known as "el desierto
florido" (desert of flowers).
At an early age Cristian began using pencils,
crayons, temperas and oils to tell stories and
express his hidden emotions. At age six he began
creating comic strips, which he would sell to his
relatives. Another one of his passions was creating
“radio teatros", recorded stories of super heroes
defending big cities in danger.
In 1994 Cristian left his homeland and headed for
San Francisco, California. He was soon fascinated
with the open-minded society and the structural
beauty of the Bay area. It was in California that he
discovered a true passion for art and the need to
express his own journey.
