Cathy Ashworth
BORN:
Pasadena, California
BIO: For as long as I can
remember, I have always done something creative.
For the past twenty years or so that has involved
the paintbrush! I love to paint
and can do it for hours and hours and never tire
of it! I don't have any big,
deep, dark reasons for painting what I paint. I
simply like to paint, create and experiment. I
don't have a big fancy art education to back that
up either. I'm basically self-taught, although
I always took art class throughout school. I've
had many tell me that my art abilities where
inherited from my father who was very artistic.
If something I've painted touches someone and
really speaks to them, then that's all the better!
For the most part, it's simply an image I like and
needed to paint. I've always had a thing for
Halloween, Dia De Los Muertos,
Frida Kahlo, cats, sacred hearts, religious
art and lots of color (to name a few). All of that
comes through in my art.
Since walking out on my corporate job almost three
years ago and taking the plunge into becoming a
full time, self supporting artist, it's one of the
best things I've done! It's not always easy, but,
I can honestly say I love my job and one that I
won't give up. This is the thing I was meant to
do!
